My babies left today. All 4 of them. My daughter Amanda, her husband, Steve, and Jacen and Kyle, 2 of the most beautiful grandchildren on the face of this earth. I prayed as they drove away, asking the Lord to give them protection as they make the long journey home. I miss them already.
Jacen's little wagon that he had filled with toys and he pulled everywhere now sits in the rocking chair, still full of toys that needed to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house, cause Mom and Dad had no where to pack them. Kyle's car seat that she used, sits still in Grandma's truck, waiting patiently to be taken out and stored once agian until another grandchild needs it.
A lone pair of red pants and a bottle of baby shampoo is all that remain from the time they were here.
It's a lonely and quiet home, but it was a joy filled and wonderful time together.
We have memories to carry us through and the telephone for calls. Somehow it just doesn't equal, " I love you Gwandma" in person, but we will manage. :)
I bought a book yesterday about being more frugal, "Go Green. Save Green" by Nancy Sleeth. I am reaching for being a better steward with my environment and with our money. Lots of great ideas for saving more and consuming less!
Today, I have done 3 loads of wash and have it out on the line drying, I am using my laptop more often, because it uses less electricity than my desktop, the desktop is turned off, the TV is off, and Dennis turned down the hot water heater for me. Maybe not ALL we can do to save, but it sure s a start, eh?
I am going to bake the Strawberry cake that was supposed to be for my grandson today and maybe make some biscuits for supper while the oven is on. We'll have leftovers for a meal tonight, and then hit the sack early. I asked dh if we could please go to church in the AM, so we are going to do that too. I am glad. We've been gone far too long, and I miss it.
I want to begin putting at least $25 a pay into savings, from mine and dh paychecks. If we can do that, we'll save $150 monthly. A good beginning, don't you think?
DS raked the backyard for me today, and is now out playing, middle dd is staying the night with a friend from school, and older dd is currently at work. She mopped the kitchen before she left, and it looks pretty gosh darn good! House is coming together after a week of vacation and not doing too much, and this evening, I have homework to do.
Such is the life at Hatfield House.....
What are your ways of being more frugal these days? Care to share?
