Temperature is in the 40's today! I thought we were finished with the wood burner for the year, but then the cold snap hit! Whew! Talk about BRISK!!!!!!
Dennis and I made the decision to homeschool and I have been getting paperwork in order. I am going to keep attendance records and a portfolio of the kids' work "just in case", ya know? I have printed up a mini study on Indiana for them to all do together, and we will sort of expand on that. I joined a Yahoo group for Unit Studies, which looks promising, but they have been working in the site and it is so confusing right now, that I just don't know!
I'm excited about it and so are the kids! Abigail tells me that the kids in her class are telling her she won't be smart, and Amelia's only concern is being able to "do school" in her pajamas! LOL!
Talked to our older dd in Colorado the other day, adn she wants Dad and I to come see her in June, so we probably will. I think we'll drive and just take Grandma with us. I was hoping my brother would watch Mom for a couple of weeks, so I could go with just my family, but no such luck! So I'm just not going to ask anymore.
Easter was good here. We had a wonderful church service, then came home and prepared (finished up) dinner. A couple of friends came, and our dd, her boyfriend and our grandson came, and another dd came. The dd that came alone, came crying because her bf was being a jerk, but she won't leave him, so what can we do? Keep praying!!!!
After dinner and cleaning up the kitchen, we watched "Passion of the Christ" again, as a remembrance of what our Lord did for us and the meaning of the holiday. It was touching and meaningful, as usual.
It's time to start supper, so blogging time is over for today! I need to see what everyone has been up to around here!
To make that decision is SO AWESOME!!! I'm excited for you!!! and welcome to the group!!! glad we met!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking in on me. We're all doing great here. Schoolwork for the day is almost over but Dallas keeps getting distracted and that gets the other two off task.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see that ya'll are going to start homeschooling. We'll be praying for you and let me know if there's anything I can help with. Tell your daughter to not pay attention to what her friends are saying, obviously their view of homeschooling is off kilter. For the other daughter, my kids do their schoolwork in their pajamas all the time (flannel pants and t-shirts). :)

I found your blog today. My FIL went through everything that your mother is going through. I will keep you in my prayers. Just remember that you can't do everything just do the best you can and "try" not to put so much guilt on yourself.
ReplyDeleteWe pulled our dd out of school in November and have really enjoyed it. We had the bullying and other situations and are so pleased with her progress. My advice is try not to do all the extras the first year. My dd had to have a "vacation" to just be a 10 year old without the negative stress. It worked. Praying for you. J
