August 25, 2008

Ahhh... today has been a good day. A few quirks and quibbles here and there, but certainly nothing major.

I have all laundry finished. Washed, dried (on the line) and put away. Ironing is left to do, but I will do that tomorrow.

5 loaves of bread baked and 1 birthday cake (belated) for dh...and I saw this little guy on the bird feeder right outside the kitchen window a few times...

Ain't he cute?

School went well for the children. Logan was VERY interested in his Science today. We examined cheek cells and worked on his science notebook. That got us a bit behind, but that's ok. Tomorrow we're looking at onion cells! He has a interest in Science, so I am following that lead with him. That, and History. Other than those two subjects, he cannot keep his attention on ANYTHING for more than 2 minutes, and I am not exaggerating at all. But we'll workthrough it. Have to, I guess.

The girls did fine. They finished up their work and then helped me in the kitchen. Abi helped with the gravy for supper and Amelia did the frosting for her Dad's cake.

Didn't get any underwear fabric cut out, but that's alright.

DH did a ton of yard work today. Mowed and cleaned the yard, painted a few of my flower beds for me, pulled weeds, and all sorts of such. Then we got a blessing from a lady and her husband down the road...

They GAVE us 2 1/2 truckloads of wood! All it needs is cut up and stacked!

And this is only PART of it! I sent her (and her Mister) down a loaf of fresh baked bread....

I can't even begin to show appreciation for that one! What a blessing today has turned out to be. God shows us right where we stand, if we slow down enough to appreciate what He has done and will continue to do.

Oh! And PS: I think the Lord is giving us hints to stay where we are for the time being. There have been more than one road block to the house we've been asking for, and I think today He finally made it sink in to this ol' stubborn head of mine.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.    I Timothy 6:7-9

These are just my ramblings for today.

~Blessings!~

For August 25, 2008

Outside My Window…. My husband is fixing the flat tire on our son's bike. I so love seeing him surprising his children with this or that. Memories that will last a lifetime with them.

I am thinking…… that today is going to be a lovely day.. inside and out.

I am thankful for…. the home and family that the Lord gave me, and the peacefulness therein.

 From the kitchen….. dh made a pot of coffee and we are sharing before the children get up for school.

I am wearing…. My nightgown and duster and my fuzzy slippers.

I am creating…… Crocheted caps for winter for all of the grandchildren.

I am going…. To help the children with school projects today and get some underwear cut out to sew and hopefully get to all the housecleaning I need to!

 I am reading… The Sacrifice by Beverly Lewis

I am hoping….. a positive phone call from ours or another mortgage lender today about the house we want in the country!

I am hearing…..Chirping birds and my computer humming.

Around the house….We are working on a few home improvement projects. Abi took to scrubbing the kitchen tile grout yesterday and it looks great! DH and I are contemplating painting the bathroom~ it really needs it. and Just little things that we can do to make our home a little cleaner, a little more comfortable, and bit more inviting...

One of my favorite things is….When our children get along and there is no arguing. Yesterday evening, for instance, the girls were working on their crocheting, and Logan was outside playing (then he came in and learned to make a chain). It was wonderful and I enjoyed having all the children together.

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week.......Nothing really interesting, just work and home. But then again, isn't that interesting enough? :)

 Here are a couple of pictures I am sharing .......

Abi helping in the kitchen and one of the hats...the crazy hats... (we DID take the ruffle off this one though!)

August 22, 2008

Today we had to take our Shih Tzu to the vet. He's carrying on something awful, with whining and crying and turning every which way... Doc says he's hurt his back somehow, so he gave him some Robaxin and Prednisone that he has to be on for about a month! Poor little guy... we thought he had been poisoned or something. Thank You Lord that he wasn't. He is in such pain though, and I hate this for him. We took him to get a haircut (he was matted) and dh and I think that the groomer may have had to hold him down on his back to shave his tummy, and he probably squirmed and threw his back out. Definitely NO FAULT of the groomer though... we think she's the best! Our fault for letting him get so long before we took care of him. *Sigh* Now the guilt sets in...

A good thing happened today. We got our house refinanced and are waiting for our mortgage lender to call us back and let us know if she could do anything toward getting our new house we have been praying for. Still haven't heard back about that, but we did at least get our interest rate down by 4 points! YEA! So even if nothing works about the new house, we'll have a better rate on THIS house.

I wrote a letter to the Judge I am supposed to appear in front of on the 3rd requesting him to simply remove me as th Executrix of my Mom's estate. Her lawyer is basically threatening me with jail because I used some of my Mom's funds to go and see my Dad as he lay in a hospital bed dying with brain cancer 9 months after my Mom's cancer spread to her brain and killed her. I know my Mom, and she would have been angry IF I DIDN'T use that money to get to my Dad. I'm scared of what is going to happen. Maybe jail time? I don't know. They can have it all... they've taken most of it anyway, so what difference does a couple hundred dollars make?

Anyhoo~ Homemade pizza is on the agenda for tonight, and lots of prayer for my pup and me.... Laundry is almost done, and I am working this weekend.
So there's my life in a nutshell for awhile. Same ol' turmoil and the devil tries and tries to stir things up around here. But life is good, and the Lord even better....

Blessings to you all!

For August 19, 2008

Outside My Window…. I see 3 bird feeders and little sparrows and finches fliting to and fro. I see 2 apples on my brand new apple tree.

I am thinking…… about a meeting that I need to go to, and whether or not I should take my son.

I am thankful for…. the job I have and the people I care for.

 From the kitchen….. supper is waiting to be cooked, and I know there is a glass of fresh iced tea waiting for me in the fridge.

I am wearing…. my favorite blue jean jumper and a red blouse.

I am creating…… actually they are in the thought process. New under wear for my son. He's growing so fast!

I am going…. to go back to college. Or at least attemp to. (That's the meeting I have this afternoon.)

 I am reading… The Sacrifice by Beverly Lewis.

I am hoping….. that I am successful in getting bills paid off and taken off my credit report so we can buy a farm house in the next year or so.

I am hearing….. Birds chirping and singing.

 Around the house…. children are attempting to get back into the swing of things for the school year.

One of my favorite things is…. Coming home after work and hearing laughter inside. It warms the heart.

 A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week.......  I need to get busy on some sewing and house cleaning. Making and keeping a schedule for work days.

August 13, 2008

Ahhh today... today was a good day, all in all....

Fruits from the garden were put up for winter. 4 quarts and 1 pint of tomato sauce, and 2 quarts of Kentucky Wanderers and 4 quarts of what my hubby calls "family hand me down goose beans". All I know is that they are good.

Looks slanted, doesn' t it? It's me... I'm slanted.

Tomorrow, I am putting up the sauerkraut we made before we went to Colorado. It smells good! Hope it tastes as good.

DH cleaned out the swimming pool today and is getting it ready to put away for the winter. It was pretty bad by the time we got home. No saving that one, so down it comes!

I have placed a few things on Kijiji for sale. Hopefully someone buys them and we can apply that money to debt we have. I drew up our credit reports today too. Man, oh man! What yuk! Time to get busy, eh?

Well, better go. I'm not tired, but  think I'll work on the children's schooling schedules before I go to bed this evening!

Blessings to you all!

August 11, 2008

Here we are, back home again.

We arrived about 11:30 this AM, after the longest time of driving EVER!!!

Walked in the door, and what did we find?

  • Our 3 dogs that were left in the care of my 22 year old step daughter, without food, without water, dog poo EVERYWHERE in the kitchen where we had them.

  •  my African Grey parrot with no food and no water, and now won't come out of his cage.

  • my Cockatiel without food or water...

  • tomato plants torn down outside

  •  bathroom window had stopped a break in, (however the front door was unlocked when we got here)

  •  the side of the air conditioner (that holds a window AC unit in) was torn from the wall, and the side door unlocked too....

Can we say... I'm a little peeved off?

The neighbor came over and told us that a couple of times while we were gone, a certain car or truck stopped over (both hers- the way he described them), but not the way she said she would. She promised us that she would be here every morning and every evening to tend to the animals.

I won't go and leave my home again. Not in her hands anyway. I am very angry. DH told me not to say anything to her, but I think she needs to know how I feel and what she has done!

What do you think?

August 9th, 2008

Today in our travels, we found some gold flakes in a stream, took pictures of a "big cat" paw print, and scouted around an old mine.

We got Manny's house cleaned up in preparation for us leaving tomorrow, while her and her family went to the Denver aquarium...

For dinner, we ate pizza rolls and chili dogs... real health food, huh? LOL!

It was a good day.

Here's some pics for everyone to enjoy.

Manny is bringing home a cake and ice cream for her Dad, so we can celebrate a bit before we leave in the AM.

And it continues to be a good day.

~Blessings~

August 8th, 2008

Well, here we are at the end of another Colorado evening. DH took our 11 year old son and I to Manitou Springs and we walked through all the shops that were open. I bought some of the little clay pots that hang on strings, and a Sioux made basket. That one will be special to me since I have Sioux Indian in me somewhere down the way...I held a picture of Sitting Bull (famous Sioux chief) up for my husband to see and we both thought that my Mom could have passed as his daughter. My Momma had the definite Sioux nose.

Which now, her great grand daughter has.... LOL!

Came back here to dd house to see that sil friends are still here from Vegas, and they are playing a game. Some sort of a computer game all the kids enjoy, but dd doesn't understand, nor does she want to, so we visited out on the balcony and had a grand time with our beautiful grandson!

The friends and sil made plans to go to Denver tomorrow to the aquarium, dd doesn't want to go, but says that she will if it means spending time with her husband before he goes back..... dh and I are not going. DD wanted to spend the day with her Dad for his 50th birthday on the 12th, which we will not be here, but , other plans were made.....

That's ok. Being a Mom, I feel that this time should be more spent on taking care of dd and baby... not so much friends and time away doing this or that... but health and safety of MY daughter and grandchildren. But who am I to complain? I'll just pray and continue on with whatever direction my daughter's life takes.

August 7th

Today our beautiful new grand daughter had to go get another bili level drawn, and, once again, it rose. Doc seems to think it will come down on it's own, and I pray it does. Worst case scenario, she may have to be put under the lights, as they say for a day. She has to get another drawn tomorrow, so we'll see how that one goes.

The bank man called back this afternoon to let us know that the first round of requests for approval for our home was denied, but he seems to think that either Tuesday or Wednesday, new investors are coming in, and that one of them will give us the approval we need to get our home.

Sure am praying for that one!

Took dd to WalMart (she didn't want to come right home after doc), so we bought the grandbabies some new clothes, and I had to get sweatpants and a jacket... it's cold here today! :)

Then we came home and ordered pizza and watched a movie.

Nothing spectacular to note today... just a typical day in the "visiting out west" Hatfield Clan! :)

August 6th, 2008

Yesterday we drove 250 some odd miles one way to see Doc Holliday's gravesite. We had to trek up a mountian trail 1/2 mile, in blazing heat..... but I was going..... ever since the movie Tombstone, I've liked him!

We found a few other places to visit along the way, but this was my personal favorite.

Hey~ does anyone know what these are? We saw many, many, many of them dotting the landscape along I-70 near Vail..... they go all the way up the mountainside, in various areas for about 2 miles....

What are they?

********************************************************************************************************

We also have a phone call in to a bank to see about getting us a loan for that house we've been praying about. Waiting on the loan man to return our call is the worst! The absolute worst! LOL!

If you feel so inclined, please offer up a prayer in this situation. We feel it would be best to get our children away from the influences of in town living. Especially the rebellious nature in the 15 year old, and the mental effects that certain things are having on our 11 year old. We try, but there are so many issues standing in our way.

Well, we would be grateful for prayers anyway.....

~Blessings~

In addition to....

being happy over having my grandchildren around me, apparently I have raised a bit of ire in a person who does not wish to allow anyone to see who they are, so it has been posted by an anonymous person that I hit and abuse my grandson when his mother is not around.

Nothing is farther from the truth. And I did tell my daughter AND her husband exactly what happened and why he was swatted on his backside. They both understood and didn't say a word about it. You can rest assured, that if my daughter (or son in law) ever thought I was abusive to the children, I would not be here.

Thank you for your comment. At least it shows someone is reading my blog, even if it is someone like you.

~Blessings~

August 5th, 2008

Well, here we are with another new day at hand. Baby and Momma are due to come home today, actually any time now! Grandma from Nevada is somewhere in town, and I can't wait to see her! I love her and am blessed that she loves my grandchildren as much as I do! :)

Jacen has been a good boy, for the most part, a few temper tantrums here and there, but nothing I cannot handle. He got a good swat on the backend today, and I think it shocked him to the point of "Oh my goodness! I'd better listen to Grandma!" And he did.

We had a day trip yesterday to Pike's Peak. Found a Pioneer Cemetery, and a few old mines and such. What we couldn't believe was the temperature change. It was 53 degrees and raining at the top of the mountain, and the closer we got to home, the warmer the weather. By the time we reached home, it was 82 degrees and sunshine. How interesting. It was a good day and of course, I took a ton of pictures!

 oh! My babies are home! Blessings!!! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR KYLE!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

At 2:07am, our newest granddaughter entered the world with a bang.... her name is Kyle, and she is beautiful! Lovely hair that will already take a bow and ribbons, and parents that adore her (not to mention grandparents too!).

Manda is doing fine, and her hubby is there with her, so all is well. She called this AM and talked to her son, and he said, "Hi Mommy!", but he is doing fine with Grandpa and Grandma, and of course mother hen, Aunt Meli.

Today will involve re-couping and going to introduce grandson to his new sister and let him see Mommy and Daddy.

We may take a trip to do something, I don't know. Jace is going to be a tad upset when he has to leave his Mommy and Daddy at the hospital, but I think he'll be ok.

Hopefully Grandma and Grandpa can hold down the fort with a 2 1/2 year old that wants his Mom and Dad, an ADHD 11 year old, and a rebellious 15 year old (that thinks she owns the world).

Wish us luck and offer prayers if you will! LOL!

I think we're gonna need it! :)

August 2nd, 2008

Last night we had a bit of a scare when Amanda came downstairs and woke me at 1am. She was having labor pains that lasted 30-45 seconds long, and were about 3-5 minutes apart. We went to the hospital, and when the nurse checked her, she's dilated to 2cm, and her cervix is thinned.

However, the doctor didn't think that it was severe enough to admit her, so after a shot of Breathine to stop the contractions, and another shot of Vistaril, we were sent home to wait it out. She slept fitfully till about 9am, and the contractions are still here, though not as bad as before. She just took a nice warm shower, and said that she feels better.

Her kitty is not leaving her side.....

Maybe baby tonight?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our adventures in Colorado are still being planned out. Hubby is looking for abandoned Ghost towns to explore. He is such a huge cowboy fan... :)
Amanda and I are waiting for the baby to arrive so we can go shoppping for her Dad's 50th birthday. He turns 50 on August 12th, and we plan to have a small party. I'd like to buy him an authentic "cowboy" pistol.
Is this not beautiful?
I think so......
As is this one....
Just keeping everyone updated about our travels out West, and wishing you all blessings today where ever you are or wish to be...
August 1st, 2008
Today dh and I woke up at 6:30am (Colorado time). We woke together and I made some coffee. Afterward, we sat on the front porch with a lovely view of the mountains, and had a nice relaxing cuppa brew together.
Today, our dd and us (sil stayed home and did his thing... his legs were hurting too bad to go) traveled to the mountain and hiked around... We saw Garden of the Gods, and a few other places. Beautiful places, God- touched places.....
Hubby cut me a cactus button so maybe I can get a start to it and grow it when we get home.... we saw so many wonderful sights, that it would behard to describe them all.
Now, dd and her hubby are off again trying to get propane for the BBQ s Dad can make his little girl a steak tonight.
DH and I and our 3 younger ones, are relaxing at home with our grandson. :)
Good times... wonderful times.... happy times......
