that old people never sleep?
My Mom is sitting at the kitchen table at 12:50am, staring at me.
I like my peace and quiet, and it seems that no matter what time I get home, or am anywhere, she has followed me and is watching me. I am a 44 year old child who appparently needs to be kept an eye on. LOL!
It's creepy, in a way. Yet I know someday, she won't be watching me, and I may miss it.
But please Mom.....just go to bed! LOL!
PS: For those of you who do not know..my Mom has dementia, so her behavior is at times interesting, to say the least. Gotta love her though!
These are nothing more than my opinion, but I think:
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I would like to say that it's hard for a caring mother to "turn it off" and let go of her child watching days, even subconsciously she does this, my mother still does it at 83 years old. :-)
Secondly, like it or not, you are still her baby, no matter what age you may be.
Thirdly, With dementia, she may not even be aware that she is doing this, people with dementia tend to "focus" on one fixed object, you are that chosen object for her tonight. LOL
Lastly, When a person reaches a certain age, they tend to stay awake longer because their days are limited (for lack of a better term), who wouldn't want to stay awake for them? Enjoy her while you still can for as you said, she's not going to be around for ever.
