25 February 2009

Good morning!

 As I sit and have time this AM, I thought of the children at school (where ours attend) and I wanted to do something special for them. They are such happy children... so full of life and love (and boundless energy)!

So, lunchlady/ librarian/ janitor me decides at 3:30am to make enough brownies for "my" kids as a treat for lunch today!

There's yet another batch in the oven.....

There's about 70 brownies (or so) and about 40-50 children. I think it'll be ok. Hope they like 'em!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here at Hatfield Manor (we're feeling majestic today...) things are looking toward spring with a great longing.... I'm planting gardens (in my head) and deciding if I should go with flowers this year or not! DH has said he's buying me a water barrel for Mother's Day... YIPEE! I'll use that one out front, and I should have 3 more coming  (Probably blue plastic) that I'll use out back for garden watering and such.
This will be such a save on our water bill! I can't wait!
Haven't been sewing as much as I'd like. I need to balance my time a bit better, so I can do more. Who knows if it'll work or not, but I'd sure like to try! I get an idea on what I'd like to sew, and that occupoes me until it gets finished. I'd like to get on a spree of "cutting out" a bunch of fabric and then have all the projects on hand to get busy with as I can. But knowing me, the children would grow out of whatever I had planned before I could get it sewn! LOL!
Poor Logan has a pattern in there and fabric, for a pair of pants I've been wanting to make since the beginning of the school year.... Haha! I may get him measured one of these days before he grows out of them!
We're waiting patiently (yea, right) for the kids to come home for a week in March. Amanda, Steve and 2 of the most beautiful grandchildren God put on the earth are coming somewhere mid March... gotta get lots of stuff ready for their arrival! Steve is a "snacker", so we're trying to load him up on his snack foods he likes so well....
AS much as I would like to sit here and talk your ears off, I have so much to accomplish today before volunteer time comes... so I had best get movin'!
What plans are you making for spring time arrival?
Getting anxious for gardening to start?
Have family coming home?
Crafting anything?
Drop a line and let me know what YOU'VE been up to!
February 15, 2009
Well, I am off until 6pm today, and I intend to get some housework finished. I'm currently working on laundry, ds is outside chopping wood (and fussing and having fits about it), dd is laying on the couch, not feeling well, and older dd is still sleeping (frankly because I don't want to hear her attitude this AM~Lord help me... she's awake.). She came home from work last night, all teary-eyed and sad, because her Dad and I "don't understand her and we don't care..." About what, you ask? She has met and lied about a boy. Now she says he is her boyfriend, and she wants him to come over sometime (which her Dad and I have never said no too), but we won't allow it. Crocodile tears and all.....
I told her that when she decides to act like an adult like she wants to be treated, then we will decide when and if this boy can come over.... and not until (more to the behavior than the tears.... MAJOR attitude).
The drama in this house is absolutley rediculous! Same as at work.... that place is falling apart, and there's nothing we can do about it. Absolutely nothing.
Why is it that life just seems to be up for so long then rock bottom? One extreme to another.....
*SIGH*
I guess we are still more fortunate than alot of folks, and I should look at that aspect. At least I do HAVE a job to go to, and I do have children that AREN'T into drugs, sneaking out at night, or alcohol.....
And on that note.....
I need to get busy and check my laundry, and work on getting my house in order today..... BEFORE I go to work.
I'm gonna work on my floors today. Yea, that's what I am gonna do.
(And scrub hard... before My attitude cause bodily harm to mouthy teenagers.)
February 12, 2009
Last night, as I was posting, we were hit by 2 power surges due to the weather. Knocked out my computer, along with our lights and whatever it was, destroyed our coffee pot! But that's ok, cause dh dug our oldie but goodie out of the attic and I have a pot brewing on the stove as we speak... so we won't stress over that one. We have heat from the stove, and light from lamps, if need be.
I've been fairly busy sewing for the grandbabies.  Finally got to see Payton in her Valentines Day dress.
And of course, I had to make a clothespin apron for myself... that time's a comin soon!!!
And an apron for dh lovely Aunt...
Today, I need to get some bread made for the family, and maybe a few more cut out patterns. I'd really like to make an apron for myself, or maybe see if I can dig out the apron that I started on last year, but didn't finish, cause I didn't understand the pattern! Maybe I can this time....
I need to finish up laundry today cause I have to work tonight, unfortunately, but at last it brings in some money, right? And bills don't stop, just cause a person wants a day off, now do they? :)
So tell me what you've been up to..... haven't heard from a lot of you lately!
