January 28, 2009

Nothing terribly interesting going on around these parts. We've had a big snow storm yesterday, last night, and today that has the children home, but other than that, we're all surviving.

I'm still on WW, and doing ok. Have lost a total of 15 pounds so far, which is good.... blood sugars have been excellent, so I am also happy about that.

Sewing has been going slow, but going. I have made 2 button down shirts for grandson's, and a Valentines Day dress for a granddaughter. These all need mailed to Colorado. I started work on another Valentines Day dress for another granddaughter, but something went haywire... not sure what, but the pieces aren't fitting like they should, so I am going ot start over. But I have to go buy another yard of fabric first! LOL!

DH has been driving pretty much daily with his job, so that's a plus. At least we're catching up where the devil put us behind this past spring when Daddy passed, and I missed work and DH was laid off.

We're also busy planning our garden areas for this spring. I bought some "starting sets", and plan on getting them going about the end of February. DH is going to build me a raised bed in the backyard, so I can have more garden area. The children are grown enough that they don't use the backyard too much, so I plan on converting some of that area to good use! LOL!

All of our endeavors in wood chopping this past summer have been worth it in keeping us warm this winter, and canning efforts have kept us fed well, so no complaints in that department. (Although I am still lacking in the menu planning department...)

Well, my friends, such is the life at Hatfield House... nothing much, but being continuously blessed by God's goodness (even though we don't derserve).

And how are things going for you and yours?

January 7, 2009

Well I suppose I had better update this a bit cause before too long everyone is going to think I've dropped off the face of the earth!

No, I haven't, but we have been busy around here. With the children being on vacation, and now back in school, and me working... it's just been a hub-bub of a time.

I've re-joined Weight Watchers again. Weighed myself at work on December 30, and weighed more than I EVER have. And with diabetes and getting older, I surely don't need that! So as of today, I have lost almost 13 pounds, and am quite happy about it. Alot of it was water weight, but that's ok, at least it's coming off, right? And dh is helping this time, so for that I am grateful. He buys me the "ready made" meals so I can grab and go for work, and I appreciate him so.

My sewing seems to have been put on the back burner for a few. I did buy some new fabric and some new patterns for the grandchildren that I want to get busy on. Maybe get a few cut out today....

As I said in a previous post... lots of folks are requesting me to make things for them, and the children need things made, so I just have to get off my caboose and get it done, right? I had one woman at work ask me about slipcovers for her couch, and she said, "I pay good...". Ididn't offer to make them, nor give any indication that I wanted to, when she was talking to another lady about it, and said, "I asked Julie, but she blew me off..." and then another said, "I ought to have you make me a Colt's purse..." Now, shouldn't that be that she should ASK me to make her a Colt's purse? Maybe then I would be inclined to.... but right now, I simply don't have the time.

The chilcren are still excited about their schooling, which I am glad. It's a good school, and they are interested in teaching the children the right way. They brought home Bible verses to memorize yesterday, so that's a big plus in my book! And the amount of homework is tremendous... . but I can appreciate that. So was mine when I was in school! LOL!

Anyhoo~ I need to scoot and get busy if I am ever going to get sewing cut out for anything, right?

Thank you for reading...
