We're Here!!!

We arrived in Colorado about 4am, I think (not sure cause of time changes and such).  The scenery is so beautiful and the mountains are incredibly majestic during the daylight hours!

Precious daughter and wonderful son in  law showed us a bit of the view today as we went to get some groceries. WE are just kind of lazing around today cause of driving all night... but tomorrow, we plan to go to the Rockies and nose around a bit! YEA!!!

We are very blessed to have such a terrific son in law. He's in the military and was able to come  home from Iraq to be present for the birth of his little girl. Wish he didn' have to go back, but he does. *BLECH*

Anyway.......

Here's the view we had today to and from the grocery....

Can you believe it? Pretty impressive to an old couple used to the flatlands of Indiana.

Here's a shot of the reason we're here....

This is our beautiful daughter Amanda... pregnant with our grand daughter. Can't wait to see her!

God has so richly blessed us with such a wonderful daughter... how could we possibly ask for more?

Hubby is cooking daughter her favorite dish tonight... Louisiana Red Beans and Rice. She put her order in before we even left home! LOL! (Maybe that & a long walk after supper will throw her into labor... wouldn't THAT be cool?)

Sunday evening

Today was a wonderful day at church and I enjoyed myself immensely! I got and gave lots of hugs and it just all around

 "felt great"!

The church prayed for us as we will be leaving home here in a few days for our trip to Colorado and our dd and new granddaughter!

By the way, our son in law made it home safely from Iraq for his midterm leave. THANK YOU GOD!!!

We made a proposal on the house we were looking at. A small country home with 10 acres. We just want something small. Nothing fancy for us. A garden area, with some chickens and goats would make us happy campers! LOL!

Hopefully, we'll hear something good by Tuesday at 6pm when the sellers decide whether or not to accept, then we have 2 weeks to come up with financing.

I am scared of that part, cause we really have no down payment, just this house we live in, we plan to sell.

Pray for us in that regard, if you will.

Anyhoo~ all is well here at Hatfield House... L is outside playing, A is outside walking her dog, M is doing some mending and D is watching a cowboy show (hope he gets this one down pat, cause cable is going off tomorrow! LOL! (Cutting back, ya know...)

We bought some clothes at Goodwill today. Took a huge load from the basement, and bought some shorts and tops for the girls to have for our trip. Got a pretty decent amout for what I spent.

Sure can't complain there!

Well, I'd better get off here, am working tomorrow, and have to pack a lunch! 12 hour shift, ya know... and 3 of them in a row! Guess the boss wants me good and tired before we leave for vacation!

I pray everyone has had as much a blessed day as I have!

~Blessings to all~

July 21, 2008~ My Soldier Stephen is on his way!!!!!

My son in law (of whom I am extremely proud) is on his way home as of today for a furlough in the midst of his 2nd tour in Iraq.

Our beautiful daughter, Amanda (his wife) is very close to giving birth, and a new little girl, Kyle is her name, is soon to be born.

I don't think Amanda is going to wait 9 more days until we get there, I think Kyle is wanting to make her entrance now.... or at least in a couple more days.

Amanda has been "nesting" for about a week now, and just told me some personal female things that indicate to me that birth is near.

Please pray for her.....

And for me, cause my toe really gave me the dickens today... LOL!

I broke my toe....

this morning as I was stepping over my son's solitare game in the middle of the living room floor, my toe decided to kick the coffee table leg as hard as a small toe strength could muster! I have been limping all day and now it is swollen and black and blue....

I'm working a 12 hour shift tomorrow... can you say "nurse without a shoe"? LOL!

July 20th~ Sunshine in our hearts and homes today!

Happy beautiful Sunday everyone!

It's been a pretty steamy, balmy day here, but then again, we have sauerkraut in the crock and I have made 9 loaves of bread ( 6 of them are in the freezer now) and a boatload of pancakes for the children a quick breakfast when I have to work.... so I do feel productive, at least. Even though I stubbed my left 4th toe on the coffee table leg earlier this AM, and I am truly hobbling around in pain hours later...... LOL!

DH did hook up the other air conditioner for me today, and although I don't like it (electric bill and all), I guess it wil be a good thing while the weather is so warm. We have made a decision that when tax time rolls around again that we are getting central air put in and a new breaker box for the house. That should about cover all the money, right?

Wonderful dd is cooking spaghetti and garlic bread for the family supper this evening, which I am eternally grateful cause my feet hurt something awful today! Don't know if it's neuropathy or just being heavy (although I have lost 17 pounds now), and to be truthful, it's probably both. LOL!

Oh well... life goes on... at least I praise God I still HAVE feet! SO many of my diabetics I work with do not, and a few do not have legs either. A lovely lady I know (who is ONE MONTH!) older than I, just had to have both legs recently removed due to this dreadful disease.

And now, I think I will retire to the living room to visit with my dh and let supper be done by Amelia the Wonderful today....

Talk to you all later!

July 19th~ When did that happen?

Haven't been here in awhile, I've discovered. After Dad passed away and dh was laid off, I guess I've been really busy with work and such to have much time for anything else.

We've been slowly putting up things from the garden and farmers markets in the area. We're going to work on sauerkraut tomorrow. We found a stone crock today at a flea market for only $28 dollars! YEA! We had my Mom's, but it was broken and not repairable.

Anyhoo~ speaking of gardens... look at these tomato plants that have went wild!

That's only 4  plants.... they are covered with tomatoes and we have a few more plants in the garden area! (I turned all my flower beds into "food" areas this year.) There's mustard greens under there as well as a cucumber plant (dogs trompled the other 3 before we managed to get the "stakes" in place) and some radishes....

Here's my big ol 178 pound Great Dane next to the plants.

I also tried my hand at making the top for our patio swing. It turned out ok, I think. But I won't bore anyone with a picture of that one! LOL!

We have the pool up and ready for kiddos to jump in and have fun, and frankly, the water is just a bit chilly for me, so I do "house" things. Things I would rather do anyway at this point in my life!

We're heading out in a couple of weeks to Colorado to be there while our grand daughter is born, and help our dd out a bit. Can't wait to see her, but frankly, I'm dreading that drive already! LOL!

Well.... enough rambling... soy milk is about finished and dh is already in bed, so I'd better get myself in gear, as they say...
